Evenin' All,
I've not had as much time as I'd previously hoped to keep much more than the results and tables updated every week, but never one to sit back on a website I'm still thinking about next season (after all, I think its winter now with this rain, yeah?)
Unsurprisingly, given the nature of the site, the visitors come Sunday/Monday and then slowly drop off until the next weekend. I would like to offer more to make people visit the site more regularly, but due to time constraints i'd rather it didn't involve me every week!
One thing I was thinking about was the ability to offer clubs an individual "blog". This could be a place where they could individually and informally write up a match report, news, stories etc. This would then be tied in with the site, and the homepage could list all the recently updated blogs. I need to do some more research into it all, but that is what the winter months are for, but before I do too much work I'd like to know if it would actually be of any use. It wouldn't cost the clubs any money, and would help open up the communication lines a bit more.
For a good example of what I mean is
Hinckley Amateurs who are based in Leicestershire. It is not meant to take away the functionality of a clubs play-cricket site (if they have one). It is just a better way of keeping what is happening in the Dorset Funeral Plan Leagues up to date.
